Long Live JOG

The Path of Understanding

The scene was of carnage. Hundreds of dead bodies lay limp on the bloody and charred soil of some once beautiful landscape. The blackened night sky was highlighted with hues of orange and red, as small fires continued to flare. Laser fire was everywhere, as ships came and went, battling each other with fierce rage, most crashing to their deaths. On the ground, those still alive were locked in deadly battle with one another as the Joggarian Empire and the Sith Empire fought to the last man. In the middle of the conflict, almost in their own world, the two Emperors, Syniclus and Orion faced off using all their mastery of the dark side to kill one another. Their faces were taunt with rage and anger. Hatred pulsed through their veins as their eyes burned yellow. Their sabers clashed again and again. They threw each other through rock and stone. They bloodied each other from head to toe. Their battle took them over the corpses of their slain warriors. Stepping on their heads, crushing their skulls as the weight of each saber blow came at full force. Death was everywhere. And then it was no where.

The scene disappeared. The temple chamber lights slowly came to the life slowly. With a small beep on a hand held holopad, the rooms windows went from dark to clear to show the out side landscape of the the beautiful Joggarian capital city. A pristine lake glistened in the distance, lined with green trees and and beyond that snow capped purple mountains.

Inside the temple chamber walls sat twenty five padawan students, some with tears of sadness in their eyes as they looked to the man holding the holopad. Their mouths were open wide in horror at the what they had witnessed. The Sith War had consumed all. Fear, anger, hatred. . .suffering. But now it was no more. The simulation was over.

In the middle of the class room sat their teacher, a brown robed figure, aged with wisdom and understanding. Still in his thirties, the Jedi had seen his fair share of conflict and pain. Yet he hid it well. His green eyes held the gaze of the students as a small smirk came to his mouth. And then he said with measure and calmness, "and thats why the ways of the Sith are not the path to be followed."

A small padawan raised his hand," Master JOGJeff, I don't understand?"

The Master smiled and responded," remember what you first witnessed young padawan?" The padawan nodded. " At first their was fear, and it came in the form of the possible overtaking of one empire of the other. Then there was anger. Angry words were stated, war was declared. Many things were said that can not be undone easily. So both sides wanted to hurt one another. So then came the hate. Their hatred poured out in action. And then the war was had. And anyone and everyone it touched, they suffered. And for what?"

The padawans looked at each other until finally one said, " for nothing."

The Jedi Master nodded,"for nothing important at all, you are right."

Another padawan asked,"Master, is the dark side stronger?"

The Jedi Master looked back, and now his smile was stilled. "You saw for yourself, what do you think?"

The padawan replied,"it only hurts people."

"So is that strength?" the Jedi Master answered back. All the padawans shook their head no. And with that the session was ended. "Class dismissed."

The padawans filed out the door. On their way out they passed two robe Jedi who had been watching the school session with earnest. They smiled as the padawans moved pass them. Finally JOGJeff came to the two men and nodded his head. "Master Chicali, Master Orion, brother." The three turned and walked down the corridor.

"Why was I the emperor, Chicali here would have made a far better one" Master Orion said with a chuckle. The three shared the moment with a smile. "Do you think the padawans understood the point of the simulation?"

"I would say so," Master JOGJeff replied. "You always have to been on guard for letting your emotions get the better of you. The dark side is apart of us all. Therefore it must be accepted and understood. But they need to understand its not the path to follow and why."

"Or the results become dire for all," exclaimed Master Chicali. "Evil intentions of those who wish to do harm could come at anytime. We must be vigil."

The three men stopped at a large circular window and stared to the distance. Their gazes fell on that of a huge palace like complex still under construction. The design was a cross of Alderaanian and Imperial. It was design to be beautiful as anything ever seen yet still be the nerve center of all Joggarian military intelligence and Jedi Training. The power of a whole armada could target it, and yet it was designed to withstand it with ease. It was to be a wonder of the galaxy when completed.

"How many months now before it is finished?" Master Orion asked still looking at the awesome complex before them.

Master Chicali looked at the other two men and replied, "Two months."

Master JOGJeff held Chicali's gaze, smiled then gazed back at the construction underway," we teach about the sith ways so we understand how not to fall to the worst of ourselves. Yet it is necessary to know that it is with in us all to delve into our darker side. It is part of what makes us who we are. But there will always be someone out there wanting to do us or others harm who embraces the dark. Its a fine line to protect and serve the galaxy, and not become the enemy in which we are trying to stop."

"Well together, with good friends and family with us, JOG continues to overcome that evil," Orion said. "We always have and always will."

"Family and friends fighting together, surviving together," Chicali quietly said. " All for one cause."

"You put it that way it sounds like we are not much different then from when we started, before we grew into a nation," Orion stated. "Just a simple clan, sticking together against all odds."

"Yes, indeed," JOGJeff said with a smile. " A clan."

The three men turned and walked away from the large circular window, leaving the ever impressive complex in the distance to be left to its continuous construction, soon to be the very heart of JOG's continual quest to bring peace and justice to the galaxy.
