Prologue
Time: 2 Months Later Location: Unknown Regions
“Outside your universe, there is nothing. And this nothing is to be no concern to you.
Control is everything, and only you can master it. Fear is nothing, for you are fear. Hatred is nothing, if nothing more than a tool to use. Anger is irrelevant, if you conquer it and you have conquered it. Understand the pain, feel it, and grow to love it.
Time, distance and direction now have meaning, only if you give it meaning. For you there is nothing outside your universe. For you are Sith.”
In the confines of his mind, Jedi Knight Rand Talor begins to understand. Time had no meaning any longer. Pain was nothing to him now. Fear had lost its hold upon his spirit. His anger had vanished. Tormented, exhausted, the mind, the spirit had been broken, healed then broken again.
As some undefined poison flowed throughout his body he knew soon the pain would return. Unbridled, unconcerned for his well-being, it would break him yet again. But as time cease to exist to him, he silently began to wait for it in earnest. The white, the most intense of color of the spectrum of pain was his and his alone. It was his home, it was . . . comfortable to him now.
Somewhere lost in the darkness that had become his mind, Talor’s identity of who he was had become forgotten.
Outside the chamber in which Rand Talor now occupied, Lord Wooooooooo watched on in silent pleasure. “He is ready,” he thought to himself as he turned the knob off that control the drug variant that flowed through Talor’s body. “It is time . . .”
Location: Jedi Temple, Nation of JOG
Dreams are windows to the soul of men, But to the Jedi Dreams are the doors to all things that are to come.
In mist of one such Jedi’s mind, the doors of the future opened slowly, piercing the darkness of his thoughts with a fraction of the light needed to see all that he needed to know.
In another place, in another time he watched as battles were fought, as friends and family members died. Nations being scattered across the galaxy and in the epicenter of it all friends he once knew were lost to the very darkness that consumed the dark side of the force.
What could he do to fight such evil he thought?
“ . . . Friends you have there . . . it is the future you see,” whispered a non-existent voice.
“ I do not recognize some, they seem lost in the dark,” the Jedi’s voice replied. The image of the men came and went, shadows of faces, images of horror, anger . . . the dark side was near. “ Are they the cause of all this? Will they die?”
“ Difficult to see . . . always in motion the future is,” the voice returned.
“ What can I do,” his voice asked in earnest.
“As the wheels of time move forward, choices you will make . . . but only for your actions, others will decide for themselves . . . now wake Master Jedi, you have work to do.”
And with that Jedi Master Jeff woke up . . .
Chapter 1
Holonet Feed (via Nation of JOG Space) #225698
On the recent heels of the JSM system erupting into full out civil war, news comes our way that the AFH system is too erupting into civil chaos. The AFH capital of Thel 78 has taken a turn for the worse as protestors have seized control of their senate floor today. JOG ambassadors were force to flee the planet as tensions were turning on their efforts to ease the civil strife.
To make matters worse, the Sith of SDJ have returned from the unknown regions to attack the weaken system. The AFH planet of Jarm has already fallen to their attack as the AFH military is at this time in no shape to counter their presence. In response the Nation of JOG has dispatched several knights in command of the 2nd fleet to help the struggling AFH system regain control and keep the Sith at bay.
No one truly knows what the cause of the civil unrest in the AFH system is due to. However President Bookofthel78 of the AFH system is still insisting that it came about rather suddenly when a new drug had hit the streets over two months ago. A variant of the dangerous death stick compound but yet stronger. JIA officials here have yet to confirm the report.
Meanwhile our closest neighbor in this sector, the BOJ system seems to be on the verge of total collapse. Over ran by the Hutt crime syndicate some time ago, the society there is wasting away before our eyes. JOG officials have quarantine the planet for all JOG citizens to travel to at this time.
Rumors of an underground movement called the Soldiers of the Rebellion have taken to the streets to fight against the Hutt Syndicate on several of the planets in the BOJ system with at this time very limited success. Reports are coming in that the BOJ army itself is no more. It seems for the moment that the Hutt Syndicate has over whelming control of the system . . .
Location: Planet Jar, BOJ System
Along the dunes of some distant desert, something moved towards the only civilization in the region. Located on the fringes of society the town was nothing to behold. A dusty spaceport was its main feature, with a few local taverns, supporting one of the last few remaining bases of the BOJ army.
As winds moved across the sands, a distant hum became ever so noticeable. The blue skies that shown brightly in the mid day sun, were slowly becoming stricken with dust and sand as the hum grew closer. Then came the few desert animals, striving all this time to survive the desert heat, racing for their lives as the hum approached even closer.
Slowly the sand dunes themselves gave way as the mechanism of the hum showed its towering self. A massive war machine, a World Devastator floated over the local dunes kicking sand hundreds of feet in the air. Standing forty stories high in the air, the devastator had been created for only one purpose, to destroy all living things.
As if a part of some cosmic force a sucking noise began as a giant maw underneath the machine beast opened, devouring all things it its path. Slowly the small town came under the powerful sucking of the machine. Buildings that had stood for eons were sucked into away without any regard. The citizens of the town fleeing for their lives found no escape as well, as the powerful winds of the devastator devoured them with no remorse. Screams of agony and pain were soon erased from the landscape as the devastator finished its meal and continued on its path moving on away from the city. Its job was finished.
Then came the sound of soldiers shuffling their feet across the sands. Quickly in chaotic harmony, they searched the remains of the ruin town, searching for any signs of life. Searching to destroy that life.
In the middle of the chaos that reign over the remnants of the town, one man soaked it all in. Dressed in a red and black uniform, with an eye missing and a scar running down the left side of his face, SWA General Mace Windu listened to continuing reports from his subordinates.
“ No sign of life sir.”
“ Nothing here General.”
Then finally a report reached his ears that he had been waiting for.
“General, we have found them, a hidden door, underneath what use to be their local tavern here was located. It leads to an underground bunker. Our warriors are mopping up the BOJ resistance as we speak. And sir, rumors have it the former BOJ president is among the them.”
Smiling and nodding at the news, the General followed his subordinate, as he was lead to the scene of the battle. He made his way to the underground bunker; entering the smoke filled room he took in the dead BOJ bodies sprawled out across the room. In the corner of the bunker, lay one individual that the General wanted most desperately to see. He stalked the man slowly and crouched down to him.
Spewing blood from his mouth, the former BOJ President lay dying. “ Why . . .” he muttered. “ Why are you doing this. . .?”
Grasping a light saber that hung loosely from his belt, the General activated the weapon blazing its scarlet blade in front of the dying man.
“ Because you pig,” the General growled with a gleam in his one good eye, “ you infest what is rightfully ours. And I am here to exterminate you.” With that the blade entered the man’s heart, killing the former president instantly.
Deactivating the saber as he stood up and made his way to the desert surface. As the suns of the desert planet belted his face once again, he activated his comlink to Zorba the Hutt.
“ The planet is secured. . . .”
Chapter 2 Location: JOG Jedi Temple, Council Chambers
With its white towers glistening with moisture from the morning’s heavy fog, the Jedi Temple of JOG sat on the edge of Lake Malkiyyah. A symbol of strength and wisdom, and perhaps last great fortress against the spreading darkness of the galaxy, the temple was the epicenter of all life through out the nation of JOG.
To the outside observer, the Jedi Temple appeared as a high-raised ziggurat building in a stepped design, with five towers built on top, one taller tower surrounded by four smaller ones. As the white towers reached for the sky so was it likened to a Jedi’s climb to enlightenment.
Sitting a top of the central tower of the complex, completely surrounded by glass, the Jedi council of JOG met harmonizing their hearts and minds with the force, searching for enlightenment that seemed to elude them at the present moment.
“ I sense a great disturbance in the force,” Master Jeff said to his fellow Jedi Masters. Seated inside the famed Council Chambers of JOG sat Master’s Jeff, Chicali, Frantic, Mr. Clean, Nerd Vader and the holo image that of Master Orion who at the present time was else where in the galaxy. They sat in a semi circle, along the walls of the chamber itself. Dew from the thick fog outside clung to the windows encompassing the room, giving one the feeling of seclusion, a perfect setting for the discussion at hand.
“ Your dreams still plague you Master Jeff, “ Chicali questioned in a calm voice.
“ Still, “ Jeff’s reply was almost a whisper. He dwelled on the dream that had been stalking his mind of late, then shook it away. “ The galaxy is tipping into darkness, the time for action on our part has come. We can no longer just look to our boarders when so much death and destruction is being reaped upon the sector as a whole.”
“ I sense it too my fellow master’s,” Master Clean replied. “This sector is slipping towards darkness, evil is everywhere and I feel we have been powerless to stop it. The dark side is clouding our judgment, keeping us docile in our actions. Why have we not been able to help any of these systems that have been breaking apart? Its time to go on the offensive.”
“ Yes,” Orion’s holo image chimed in. “ With JSM breaking completely apart, the FCF System being a complete mess, the AFH system falling into an ever deepening madness, and who knows what is going on in the BOJ system, its as if we’ve sat on the sidelines for too long and now is our problem to deal with. The question is where do we start?”
“ All we know is that the Syndicate is behind it and this organization must be stopped, and stopped now,” Nerd Vader said with force. “ And to do so, we must cut off its head so top speak, meaning removing Zorba the Hutt.”
“ But where to start looking, Master Nerd Vader,” Chicali said. “ Its not like the Syndicate has a main base of operations. JIA intelligence has found nothing of his whereabouts or movements.”
“ And what of Lord Woooooooo, where does he fit into all this,” Jeff mentioned. Its seems his hands have been into all that we see before us.”
“ As powerful as Woooooooo may have become,” Orion exclaimed, “ he doesn’t strike me as some one who would be pulling all the strings here. Perhaps there is someone else, working against us, plotting the devastation of this sector right before our eyes.”
“ You think our combined power would be able to sense this powerful entity Master Orion, yet we have not,” Clean spoke up. “ However I must point out, the Sith of SDJ have returned from the unknown regions.”
“ And what of that attack,” Nerd Vader brought to conversation. “ It’s a new approach for SDJ. Why them? They know we will come to AFH’s aid.”
“ Perhaps that is what they want,” Chicali said calmly. “ Perhaps they want to draw us out. They know they could never attack us here, they don’t have the combined power to beat us. Perhaps they want us to come after them, to neutral ground so to speak. A devastated system like that of AFH would even the odds a bit for them. Not to mention, it’s the closest system to the unknown regions.”
“ This move is bold to say the least,” Jeff said. “ But we must do something to help out AFH. Bookofthel78 was a former Jedi Master here at JOG. We can’t just leave him and his people to die.”
“ And what if it is a trap,” Chicali replied.
“ We spring the trap, “ Clean said with a smirk. “ We can handle whatever SDJ throws at us. I suggest we send Master Jeff to the front line there with the rest of the 2nd fleet, he is close friends with the AFH president, perhaps his influence can help save that system. Not to mention he has defeated Lord Super Duper before. I am confident that he could it again.”
I agree. . . “ Chicali began to say before Jeff broke in.
“Fellow Masters I cannot lead this charge,” Jeff said in an all too serious voice. “ I feel drawn to some other course that the force is guiding me to.” Slowly the Jedi Master got up form his seat and began to move towards the window that was directly behind him. Gazing at the fog that surrounded the council chambers, he saw it as a perfect analogy to what his mind was like at that moment. With his back turned to the rest of the council he continued his speech, “ There is something else I must do. I must take a leave of absence, for a short period of time, I suggest Master Chicali go in my stead.”
The Masters looked at one another as they silently looked to the force to see what their fellow master was getting at.
“This is a funny time to be taking a vacation Master Jeff, ” Nerd injected.
“ On the contrary, my friend,” Jeff spoke up. He turned his gaze to his fellow Jedi Master, “ I feel the fate of many may rest on this mission that I must undertake. It’s all I can really say. I am sorry.”
Resigned to his friends wish Chicali spoke up“ So be it. I will take the rest of the 2nd fleet and go to the AFH system.”
Pausing for just a second, the Master’s sat in harmony with the force. Stretching out with their feelings, searching the force to see if what had been decided was the correct course of action to take. It was Master Jeff that realized something was amiss.
“ Master Frantic, “ he said as he returned to his seat, “ you have been very quiet in this meeting, you have something to say don’t you.”
A sadden look came over Frantic’s face as he looked to the rest of council, “ It has nothing to do with the AFH system I’m afraid. As important of an issue that is, one may be even more important to the safety of this Nation.”
Frantic continued in a measured voice. “ JIA Intelligence . . . has reported to me. . . that SWA’s military forces have been active in the BOJ system, supporting a full attack upon inhabitants of the BOJ population. . . people are dying” The news broke the conversation as each member of the council dwelled on the possibilities of the news.
“They want their territory back,” Chicali finally spoke up.
“ The fact that they are there means that they are working with the Syndicate,” Nerd injected into the conversation, “ Perhaps the Syndicate is having trouble with the rebellion that has opened up there. It may be the best chance we have to get a location on Zorba the Hutt. The slug might be there, making sure the Syndicate stays in charge.”
Shaking his head Orion entered the conversation, “ We can not by any means allow the SWA Empire to regain control of the BOJ territory. Its location is too close to our system. Their war machines. . . are to say. . . devastating. This step is only an opening move for them, they want us. And you all can sense it. They were humiliated by our Jedi Master’s so long ago, they want revenge for that loss.”
Master Clean broke in. “This threat is of the up most importance to our nation, we will need to counter this with the bulk of our forces. There is absolutely no way we can allow SWA to come so close to us. From BOJ space, SWA would be a perfect position to launch full scale attacks into our territory.”
“ I also agree with Master Nerd,” Frantic replied, “ The two entities would have to be working together if they both organizations are in the same system. And if our suspicions are right about SWA wanting to use the BOJ territory as a launching pad into our Nation, we dare don’t take this lightly.”
Frantic stared at the rest of the council members then continued on, “We may be able to kill two problems with one stone. But let it be known this is a very big problem. And we would need the bulk of our military and knights to combat it . . . . And . . . as you know I have a past with these people, I understand how they fight. . . I will volunteer to lead the campaign.”
“This task is greater than any one Jedi Master, Master Frantic,” Chicali said. “ Another Master should go and help lead the campaign. I motion for Master Nerd Vader to accompany Master Frantic in this struggle.”
“ I concur,” Jeff replied.
“ So do I,” said Clean.
Orion nodded in agreement.
“ But know my friends,” Jeff continued, “ this is no small task and many will die as a result of what we are planning here and now.”
The Master’s took the news and accepted it. They had all seen battle before. They had all fought bravely for the Nation in the past. They knew what they were headed into. They knew death awaited them, but yet they knew what must be done.
“ We all know what must be done my fellow friends,” Clean exclaimed breaking the silence, “ These task before us may be the greatest threats that this Nation has ever faced before, yet it is in times like these that I am happy that we are here fighting together. Success to us all.”
The Master’s smiled and nodded in agreement.
“ May the force be with us,” Master Jeff said as the meeting came to an end.
Chapter 3 Location: Jedi Temple, Room of a Thousand Fountains
The Room of a Thousand Fountains was a gigantic area located at the base of the Jedi Temple. It had waterfalls and huge amounts of flora, meditative areas, pottery, and stone walkways. It was a place where the Jedi came to find peace, to concentrate on the force and become one with it. On occasion it also was a place where Jedi’s and padawans alike came to mourn those that they had lost.
Mr. Barney was one such padawan. Seated at a stone bench, the young man sat at the base of a massive fountain gazing into the waters before him. The water was cool and green. Light trickled down and made shifting patterns on the bottom. Ripples of gentle waves were formed from the force of the waterfall hitting the surface high above.
But the soothing affect was having no effect on the young man’s mood. It had been two months now, two months since his Master, Rand Talor was left to die at the hands of some dark lord. The horror of the event continued to plague his mind evn to this day.
He couldn’t shake the image, his Master, bloodied and beaten, lying helpless at the feet of the unknown assilant. And himself trying desperately to reach his fallen Master, but instead getting force shoved into the bulk head of the ship. The moment seemed to take a life time. Remembering how helpless he felt as tried in vein again to reach his Master, only to be dragged into an escape pod, leaving his Master behind.
If only he was stronger in the force, his Master might still be here today. So deep in thought was the young man, so deep in his misery, that he mised the footsteps coming from behind him.
“ Padawan Barney,” a voice came from behind the young man. Startled, Barney turned from his seated position to face the voice. To his surprise, before him stood Jedi Master Jeff.
“ Master Jeff,” he said as he quickily stood to greet his superior.
“ The time has come young padawan,” Jeff said in a calm demenor. “ You have mourn for you Master’s loss for too long now. Its time to become stronger from it. It’s time you and I begin where you left off in your training. . .”
Location: Unknown Regions
In the confines of his secret complex, on some unknown world, Lord Woooooooo kneeling on one knee, looked upon the holo image of of his Master. Stem filled the air and wafted through the image, distorting his Master form from time to time.
“What is my bidding my Master,” he said in a low voice.
“ Lord Woooooooo,” the holo image of the Dark Lord exclaimed, “ The time has once again come for your presence to be felt.”
Smiling at the thought of contining his fight against the Jedi. Wooooooo eagerly awaited his Master’s order, “ Your will is my command, my Lord.”
The image paused for a second as he the Dark Lord’s face contorted to a snarl. “ Is that so, my apprentice. . . my will is your command?”
Puzzled, Woooooooo replied, “ My Lord?”
Annoyed with the games. “Do you really think that you could hide your apprentice from me, Lord Wooooooooo . . . . you are coming along nicely!”
“ Master . . .” Wooo began as if trying to find some way out of the situation that he did not understand. How did his Master know of his apprentice Talor?
“ Your treachery and decit is to be expected,” the Dark Lord uttered, “ It seems your training is almost complete. A fine Sith Lord you have become Lord Wooooooooo. But by now you must know that I am stronger, and you do serve me, even if you do not know it.”
Woooooooo understood his Master’s motivation. He was caught, in seeking to surplant his very teacher, the most prized disipline that a Sith could learn. Yet in catching him, his Master used it to impress upon Woooooooo that he was all powerful. A brillent techinque to use ones own cunning, to impress upon the victim your own power. It was a lesson he would not forget.“ I understand my Lord,” Woooooooo said while bowing his head towards the Dark Lord.
“ Excellent,” the Dark Lord continued. “ It’s time to see what your new apprentice is made of. The war against the Jedi is to continue in their space. In two weeks time several delegations from the newly organized systems of LOE and OES are to attend a meeting on the planet of Illad. You are to disrupte it . . . leave none alive. I want JOG to feel vunerable, even in their own back yard.” The Dark Lord paused as if waiting for his apprentice, Lord Wooooooo to grasp all that was being said.
And Woooooooo did understand. It was a move that had many sides. Not only was it an attack in JOG space, which would in fact disrupte moral, but it also showed those that may wish to ally with the Nation that they were indeed vunerable and weak. Making such alliances tougher to come by for the JOG Nation. His Master was indeed, all powerful, to construct such a massive blow with so little effort.
However there was one problem, “ Of course it will be done my Lord, however what of the JOG’s Masters, they would surely be monitoring the meeting. Their combined presence will make it difficult for myself and my apprentice to disrupt it.”
A crackle of laughter shot out of the Dark Lord in response, “ It has been . . . taken care of. JOG’s forces are being deployed through out the sector, they will not be able to watch the procedings as much as they would like.”
“My Lord,” Wooooo replied, still not sure of what was to come.
“ There is an added bonus to this mission Lord Woooooooo, one in which you must not fail in accomplishing. I have word that only Master Clean will be left to oversee the proceedings hence why the meeting is taking place on his home planet. KILL HIM!!!!He should be no match for the combine stregnth of you and your new apprentice. His loss will shake the very foundations of the Nation of JOG!”
Smiling at the thought of Clean’s demise, Lord Woooooooo bowed even further to impress upon his Master that he truly his Master’s will was his command“ It will be done my Master with pleasure. . . ”
